Peter Verhelst and Carll Cneut receive Woutertje Pieterse Prize

A week after winning the Book Feather (Boekenpluim) and the Book Cub (Boekenwelp), ‘The secret of the nightingale's throat' gets the Woutertje Pieterse Prize. The prize is awarded to the best Dutch-language children's or youth book that is remarkable for its language, content, illustrations and lay-out.

Winner Woutertje Pieterse Prize 2009‘The secret of the nightingale's throat', published by De Eenhoorn, is an adaptation from the famous fairy tale by H.C. Andersen, ‘The nightingale'. The illustrator of the book, Carll Cneut, received support from the Flemish Literature Fund to work on the book.

 

The Woutertje Pieterse Prize Foundation wishes to improve the quality of children's and youth literature in the Dutch-speaking regions.
