In November, Barbara Buri and Mireille Cohendy are staying in the Translators’ House.

 


Vertalershuis_Oostenstraat.jpgSince 1995 Barbara Buri is a freelance translator into German of Dutch-language plays. For the moment, she is working on the German translation of 'Cowboys huilen niet' by Gerda Dendooven. Previously, she translated work by Bart Meuleman, Bart Moeyaert, Jeroen Olyslaegers, Pascale Platel, Arne Sierens, Jan Sobrie, Filip Vanluchene, Ad de Bont and Karst Woudstra. In 1998 she was awarded the Deutscher Kindertheaterpreis and in 2012 the Jugendtheaterpreis Baden-Württemberg for her translations.

 

Mireille Cohendy works as a freelance translator. In the Translators' House, she is working on the French translation of 'Pogingen iets van het leven te maken' by Hendrik Groen. Previously, she translated work by Carl Friedman, Harry Mulisch, P.C. Emmer, Jacqueline van Maarsen, Rob Riemen and Jan Brokken.
