Promoting Flemish literature in Bologna and London

The Flemish Literature Fund team is getting ready for the Bologna Book Fair (30 March to 2 April) and the London Book Fair (14 to 16 April).

Some recent translations of Flemish picture books. The Bologna Book Fair is undeniably the most important annual meeting for children’s literature experts from all over the world. In 2015, the book fair can once again expect to receive a large delegation from Flanders: 20 authors and illustrators, 15 publishers and a dozen members of staff from literary organizations will travel to Bologna. Reason enough for the FLF to organize a professional event for the second time, in close cooperation with the Flemish Publishers Association and the Flemish Reading Foundation. On Monday 30 March, during a networking evening, Flemish authors and other book professionals will get the opportunity to meet fifteen of the FLF’s top international contacts.

Only two weeks later, the FLF is present at the London Book Fair. This event is especially important for the promotion of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and graphic novels. For fiction, a second edition of ‘Bookshelf Essentials’ will be presented, in which the FLF zooms in on contemporary classics, after the classic classics we introduced before.

For both Bologna and London, a special issue of the FLF’s News & Views is released, with updates on new books from Flanders, recent prize winners and successful book projects that have been realised with the support of FLF.

Please come and visit us at the Bologna Book Fair (Hall 29, D33-38) or at the London Book Fair (6F50): we’re part of the collective Flemish stand, coordinated by the Flemish Publishers Association with the support of Flanders Investment and Trade.
