Prix Sorcières for 'The Dog Nino didn't have'

The French translation of 'Het hondje dat Nino niet had' (The Dog Nino didn't have, De Eenhoorn) by Edward van de Vendel and Anton Van Hertbruggen wins the Prix Sorcières for best picture book.

The association of French librarians and that of French children’s bookshops have been awarding the Prix Sorcières since 1986. The award ceremony is taking place during the Salon du livre jeunesse in Douchy-les-Mines (21 and 22 February).

This year’s winner in the ‘Album’ category (picture book) is 'Het hondje dat Nino niet had', a beautifully illustrated story about a boy and his imaginary dog by Edward van de Vendel, with drawings by young talent Anton Van Hertbruggen.

'Le chien que Nino n’avait pas' was published in 2014 by Didier Jeunesse, in a translation by Marie Hooghe-Stassen, and with support of the Flemish Literature Fund.
