FLF awarded for its support to Flemish comics

The StripVos is a yearly award given by the Flemish Independent Comics Union (Vlaamse Onafhankelijke Stripgilde) to an organization that has given great support to the Flemish comics world. This year, the members of the Comics Union voted for the Flemish Literature Fund.

StripVosThe Comics Union praised the FLF for its continuous and consistent manner of enabling a new generation of young artists to enrich the comics landscape with their innovative and pert creations. Furthermore, the union noted the networking efforts made by the FLF to forge relations between Flemish and foreign publishers in order for Flemish talent to get noted and published abroad.

Two more prizes were awarded for the first time this year. The StripVos for the best Dutch-language comic book went to ‘Twee koningskinderen', the third part of the Berlin cycle by Marvano. Jeff Broeckx received the StripVos award for his remarkable career in comics. Broeckx is best known for his series ‘Dag en Heidi', ‘Sloeber' and ‘Klein Suske en Wiske'.

The FLF wishes to share this award with the (ex-)members of its comics advisory committee. The FLF comics policy and its results have been shaped by their knowledge of the comics world, and are indebted to their careful analysis, constructive ideas and considered advise. The StripVos encourages the FLF to continue to develop its comics policy and to offer the Flemish comics even more and greater chances to evolve, in Flanders and abroad.
