Judith Vanistendael nominated in Angoulême

‘La jeune fille et le nègre', the French translation of Judith Vanistendael's first graphic novel has a shot at winning one of the seven prestigious prizes that will be awarded at the international comics festival of Angoulême (France).

 


La jeune fille et le nègre_Judith Vanistendael.JPG56 albums are in the race for the Fauve d' Or for the best graphic novel, the five Essentiels and the Essentiel Révélation. All nominated titles were or will be published in French between December 2007 and November 2008.

 

Amongst the nominees we find Judith Vanistendael and the French translation of 'The virgin and the negro'. With this nomination Vanistendael follows in the footsteps of Flemish nominees Olivier Schrauwen (2007), Nix (2006 and 2007) and Luc Cromheecke (1992 and 1994).

 

The jury which is presided by the 2007 winners, Philippe Dupuy and Charles Berberian, will announce the awards on the closing day of the festival, February 1st 2009.
