Brecht Evens and Olivier Schrauwen nominated for prestigious award at Angoulême

Brecht Evens and Olivier 'Ollie' Schrauwen have been nominated for the 'Prix du Meilleur Album' at the Angoulême Festival. Evens stands a good chance of winning the prize for 'Les Amateurs' ('De Liefhebbers') and Schrauwen for 'Le miroir de Mowgli'. The prize will be awarded on 29 January during the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée.

Schrauwen was nominated twice: in 2007 for 'Mon fiston' ('My boy') and in 2011 with 'L'homme qui se laissait pousser la barbe' ('De man die zijn baard liet groeien').

Art Spiegelman, chairman of the jury in 2012, is already wildly enthusiastic about Schrauwen's talent: "Olivier Schrauwen is extraordinary. He's inspriring, the most original graphic novelist I've come across since Ware and Katchor."
