Guidelines translation grants online

The new guidelines and application forms for translation and production grants, grants for illustrated books and travel grants have been put online on the Flemish Literature Fund site. They take effect as of 1 January 2012. The major amendment to the first three guidelines is that payment of the grant in two parts has been replaced by one single payment on publication of the book .

Once a dossier has been approved, the applicant will still receive a letter stating the provisional subsidy sum. The definite subsidy sum will be established and paid following presentation of the copies of the translated book, together with proof of payment of the translator. In the case of production grants and grants for illustrated books, the publisher must also present copies of invoices for prepress and press costs. The final amount of the subsidy, which shall never exceed the provisional sum, will then be paid to the applicant as a lump sum.
