As usual, the FLF will be presenting foreign relations with the literary harvest of the past year for all genres, in the form of information sheets and sample translations. This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair is also where we will be launching a nonfiction pilot project. That project, which started at the Beijing Book Fair, is aimed primarily at exploring the options for the FLF's nonfiction policy and, after thorough evaluation, how to integrate that policy into the existing foreign rights marketing activities.
On Thursday 13 October, Minister Joke Schauvliege will be visiting the Frankfurt Book Fair and paying special attention to Flemish publishers and the digital challenges facing the book world. At the beginning of the afternoon, the minister will be visiting the stand of Iceland, the guest country at Frankfurt; the theme hall on digitalisation; various German publishers that have recently published a translation of work by a Flemish author and a number of Flemish publishers not represented at the collective Flemish stand. Later in the afternoon, the minister will be learning about the Netherlands Foundation for Literature and the FLF's foreign rights marketing activities and meeting Flemish publishers represented at the collective stand. The visit will be concluded with a reception, at which Dutch and other foreign publishers of Flemish authors will be present.
