Last year, the same formula was also adapted to the illustrators Kaatje Vermeire and Carll Cneut. It was an instant succes. Many of the international publishers considered Vermeires book 'Mare and the things' ('Mare en de dingen') to be the discovery of the Book Fair. Meanwhile, the French, Chinese and Norwegian rights for this title have been sold.
Stefanie De Graef will soon enter the international book market with her book 'Aisja' (with texts by Pieter van Oudheusden) and 'I am Pomme' ('Ik ben Pomme', with texts by Kristien Dieltiens), which will appear in Portuguese. The Flemish Literature Fund supported the Brasilian publisher Comboie de Corda Editora.
Tom Schamp has made twenty books so far. He is an illustrator for Belgian, Dutch and French magazines, such as 'Playboy', 'Telerama', 'NRC Magazine' and 'Humo'. He also designs for the music industry, invents posters and develops toys for nursery rooms.
The magazine 'De leeswelp' will follow the trail of the two illustrators in Bologna, and will write a series of articles about them.
