Gallimard to publish translation Peter Terrin

The rights for Peter Terrin's book ‘De bewaker' (The Guard) were recently sold to Gallimard, the prestigious French publishing house, with the assistance of the FLF. Terrin is the first Flemish prose author on Gallimard's list since the translation of Hugo Claus's ‘Omtrent Deedee' (About Deedee) 40 years ago.

De bewaker_Peter Terrin_postzegel.jpgDutch publisher De Arbeiderspers has already negotiated and sold English-language rights for the book to MacLehose Press in England and the Italian rights to Bompiani, whose authors include Umberto Eco.

‘De bewaker' is a psychological novel set mainly in the underground car park of a huge block of luxury apartments. Two guards are responsible for the security of the residents, yet have no knowledge of what is happening in the world outside the building. When a third security guard unexpectedly reports for duty, their perception of reality blows a fuse.
