Summer course 'Literary Translation'

From 25 August to 5 September, the Centre of Expertise for Literary Translation (ELV or Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen), together with the Flemish Literature Fund (FLF)and the Dutch Foundation for the Production and Translation of Dutch Literature (NLPVF), organized its yearly summer course for literary translators at the Lessius College in Antwerp.  The course alternately takes place in Antwerp and Utrecht.

During two weeks, seven Romanian and three Korean junior translators worked on individual and collective translations. Guest speakers read about related themes like the trends in contemporary fiction (Frank Hellemans). The FLF and NLPVF spoke about their activities and the support that they offer to both Dutch- and foreign language translators.

The students were coached by Myong-Suk Chi (Dutch-Korean), Ken Vos (Korean-Dutch), Teun Meeuwsen (Korean-Dutch), Gheorghe Nicolaescu (Dutch-Romanian) and Jan-Willem Bos (Romanian-Dutch).
