Annelies Verbeke and Stefan Brijs to visit Turkey

Until June 2010, the Goethe Institute of Istanbul organises a European project, called ‘Yollarda - European Literature Goes to Turkey/Turkish Literature Goes to Europe'. The arts tour invites European writers whose books have been translated into Turkish, to present their work in Turkey. Belgium will participate in November with Annelies Verbeke and Stefan Brijs.

Annelies VerbekeTwo novels by Annelies Verbeke have been published in Turkish: her debut novel ‘Slaap!' (Sleep!), an international hit which has been translated in over 15 languages, and the collection of short stories ‘Groener gras' (Greener grass). ‘The Angel Maker' by Stefan Brijs was released in over 10 countries already, amongst which Turkey.

 

Verbeke is furthermore invited by the Belgian Embassy in Turkey to read in Ankara to a mixed public of Turkish and Dutch-speaking readers.
