Peter Holvoet-Hanssen at biggest poetry festival in the world

From 4 to 11 July Flemish poet Peter Holvoet-Hanssen will be attending the International Poetry Festival of Medellín, Colombia. With 35.000 visitors it is the biggest poetry festival in the world.

International Poetry Festival MedellínMore than 50 poets from all continents will participate at the 19th edition of the festival. Amongst them are Arthur Sze (USA), Henk van der Waal (the Netherlands) and Jan Wagner (Germany). The organization of the festival is in the hands of Fernando Rendón, winner of the alternative Nobel Prize for literature.

 

Every year the Flemish Literature Fund (FLF) gives a Flemish poet the opportunity to attend the Medellín festival. Luuk Gruwez, Stefan Hertmans, Erik Spinoy and Miriam Van hee, to name but a few, have participated in previous editions. Roland Brouwer has translated a selection of Holvoet-Hanssen's poems into Spanish in view of the festival and with the support of the FLF.
