The exhibition
The new generation
The exhibition "Ceci n'est pas la BD flamande" is set up in the Cour d'honneur de l'Hôtel de Ville, the main courtyard of the town hall, in the heart of the city. Its primary aim is to present a cross-section of the new generation of Flemish graphic novelists. In their own individual space, twenty artists offer a look at this new generation through their works and their worlds. The texts of the exhibition are written by Gert Meesters, a Flemish journalist and comics specialist.

Hall of fame
To put the young generation in perspective, they are presented against the background of the Flemish comics pioneers. The hall of fame offers a review of the most important names in the history of Flemish comics, including a treasury of original works by Willy Vandersteen, Marc Sleen, Bob De Moor and Jef Nys. These four famous cartoonists are the founding fathers from before 1960. A pedigree tells the story of the generations after 1960. Here, we find comics which are very popular in Flanders, such as "Kiekeboe" by Merho, as well as internationally reknown names like Vance, Marvano, Griffo, Berck and Bosschaert.
